Planning Checklist


 

6-12 Months

  • Contact your Celebrant and see if they are available and what the legal requirements are, remembering some times of the year are busier than others.
  • Locate or arrange to get the necessary legal documentation- original birth certificates (if born in Australia) or Overseas Passport to show your Celebrant  (who will advise if other documentation is necessary. For Qld registered birth certificates the appropriate forms can be obtained from www.justice.qld.gov.au. If you need to make an application to obtain a copy of your Birth Certificate, as a Justice of the Peace (Qual) I can certify copies of your identification when we meet. It is important to enquire with the registering authority how long this process will take to ensure you meet the legal requirements of the notice period.
  • Complete your Notice of Intended Marriage
  • Discuss your ceremony with your Celebrant.
  • Decide on the style of wedding ceremony you will have, set the date and the time.
  • Discuss the budget, and who will pay for what.
  • Plan where you would like to have your wedding, allowing for a “plan B" if the weather becomes unsuitable…maybe where you are having the Reception?
  • Look at Wedding Reception locations and check if they offer a wedding coordinator.
  • Choose your bridesmaids and groomsmen
  • Talk to friends and others re their recommendations for the florist, photographer, makeup and music options.
  • Plan music for your wedding and reception. i.e. live or recorded e.g. ipod,DJ, live performances. Prepare to meet any copyright requirements.
  • Discuss honeymoon and reservations
  • Arrange for time off work.
  • Buy a wedding planner and envelopes to store brochures and notes.
  • Develop record-keeping system for invitations, gifts, and thank-you notes.


4-6 Months

  • Select and register wedding gifts and patterns.
  • Select color scheme.
  • Order dress and accessories.
  • Order bridesmaids’ dresses, shoes and accessories.
  • Organise hair and make-up stylists
  • Contact men’s formal wear specialist for men’s attire.
  • Order (or make) invitations,


1 – 2 Months

  • Choose and order your wedding rings and engraving.
  • Order wedding cake.
  • Finalize  your ceremony with your Celebrant.
  • Plan rehearsal dinner (if having a dinner after the Rehearsal).
  • Complete guest list and address invitations.
  • Include possible accommodation ideas if your guests have to travel.
  • Purchase gifts for attendants and groomsmen.
  • Plan reception seating, if necessary.
  • Organize transport
