A Promise 23 Years in the Making

(Cooyar, QLD – South Burnett Wedding Celebrant)

Twenty-three years after a friend boldly scribbled across her Bon Jovi album “Tonia will marry Jon Dufficy”, those words finally came true — on a hill with endless views just outside their home near Cooyar, in the beautiful eastern Darling Downs region of Queensland.

Family, neighbours, and friends from near and far towed their caravans up the dirt track to Jon and Tonia’s piece of paradise. Some stayed for the weekend, others for the whole week — which says everything about who Jon and Tonia are: warm, real, welcoming, and always surrounded by people who love them.

A Hill Full of Heart

From the very beginning, it was destined to be a day where emotion, laughter, and the story of their life together came together perfectly. Their ceremony celebrated not only love, but their shared history — the way they’ve built a wonderful life together through the ups and downs.

Tonia arrived on horseback, the perfect reflection of her vibrant heart. Jon and their sons rode up moments earlier on motorbikes — a nod to their shared love of adventure and family.

And in true country style, we paused briefly when Tonia’s horse decided to make a surprise exit after the applause! A moment that had everyone laughing — and one that made the ceremony even more memorable.

Emotions Worth Embracing

As I often share with couples, the emotions that surface during a ceremony shouldn’t be hidden or hurried. They’re the moments where love truly shows itself — the kind that stays with you forever. And yes, it’s why I always have tissues in my coat pocket!

Reflections from the Day

After the ceremony, those closest to Jon and Tonia shared some beautiful words that really touched me.

Tonia’s bridesmaid, Hayley, said:

“The celebrant was absolutely wonderful — so kind, calm, and genuine. He spoke beautifully, held everyone’s attention with ease, and created a heartfelt atmosphere. He handled the emotional moments with such care and compassion – it truly felt like he was part of the love being celebrated.”

From Christobel, Tonia’s mum:

“10 out of 10! John was so natural, not over-rehearsed. He was in tune with you guys and your feelings. He didn’t rush or keep going when you needed time. He was very approachable, cracked a few funnies — we loved that. Overall faultless.”

And from Jon and Tonia themselves:

“Our ceremony was perfect. Thank you, John — you made our special day amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

The Perfect Day

Jon and Tonia weren’t chasing perfection — just a moment that reflected them. Real, relaxed, and full of meaning. And that’s exactly what it was.

For me, as their celebrant, it’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.

Because every ceremony — whether it’s in the heart of Brisbane, the South Burnett, or out overlooking the hills of Cooyar — it is about the people, their story, and the love they share.

It means the world when couples tell me their ceremony felt right — that it captured who they are and gave them something they’ll look back on years from now with a smile, saying, “We’re still glad we did it like that.”

And that’s why I love being a celebrant. Because it’s never about a performance — it’s always about you.

A visit to Jaipur was elevated due to the discovery of Jaipur Escorts. The people involved were lovely and ensured I had a completely relaxed evening. The Call Girls Jaipur are known for their warm disposition, and this experience absolutely confirmed that. My favorite aspect of the Jaipur Escorts Service was the discretion and attention to detail. Everything felt natural from beginning to end, and that is what highlighted it for me.
