You don't need to like the same music to make music!

Saturday just gone, polar opposites who have settled on "flying by the seat of your pants" to make your relationship work, married! I love listening to couples stories and creating a safe space when we first meet to ensure they can be themselves! I respect that there are times when some couples need extra support, firstly to be able to stand in front of their guests for a short while and then "say words!" Of course, they are often males who experience stage fright! Please be

Is there a path that leads to your centre?

Everyone approaches the place of ceremony in their lives in their own unique way! I love being a celebrant for this any many other reasons! Nick and Janee's special occasion was no different and it was an absolute joy to assist them share their story with family and friends who were able to travel to the @Proston Labyrinth to celebrate with them. I find when people take time to "honour others" during any form of ceremony it brings an extra presence into the centre. It re-cent

Want more pink hats or blue?

See that silly look on my face? It's the look a celebrant gets when that moment arrives in a ceremony when two special people slip the last ring on! "Thanks Lucy Kinbacher Photography!" The instructions from the couple from the outset were... "it has to be funny!" I will let you in on a secret, "it wasn't that hard to create a fun and funny ceremony for them, because the groom excelled in the art of dry humour!" Perhaps I too share that gift a little, but he was by far, drier

Do you wake a sleeping carpet snake or just work around it? My 2020!

Do you wake a sleeping carpet snake or just work around it? My 2020!

2020 for me has been a year of learning to live with the uncomfortable! My first wedding for 2020 was in the glorious Bunya Mountains! It included a guest that I had to keep one eye on, but decided it would be best to work around and leave the sleeping carpet snake alone! COVID-19 planted itself right in the middle of our lives and plans, and in so many ways created for us 'students-of-life", some life-long lessons to participate in and experiment with; proving once again th

    Destiny or coincidence?

Back before they were old enough to know much more than 1 + 1, Meagan and Kieran stood together in their primary school band photo! At the end of their schooling they followed each other to Brisbane and "yes", ended up living one street apart for quite some time before their first memorable introduction at the Royal Exchange Hotel in Toowong! Kieran and Meagan openly shared their stories about their dedication to helping each other achieve their best and how much they valued

Google has never been to Paradise Creek, and now I know why!

I am a "country boy" by birth, and heart! Steph and Sam's opening line in their very helpful instructions to find their wedding venue was - "don't enter this road number into Google, it won't take you where you need to go!" I really enjoy sharing in a couple's special day when they choose to celebrate on country, their home soil and the place that has made the greatest contribution to who they are as individuals and a couple! I patted myself on the back after experiencing onl

Would you drive "an Ancient Toyota" to your first date?

Would you drive "an Ancient Toyota" to your first date?

I smiled internally when Stephen and Amy shared the simplicity of their first date with me, because I to, also picked up my "Her Majesty" on our first date in an antiquated New Zealand Zephyr rescued from the scrap heap during my quick "not find a wife" tour in 1985! (note: finding a beautiful wife was an unexpected bonus!) We heard Narelle from Dominos did everything in her power to channel Stephen's unending flirting with Amy during the making and delivering of pizzas into

    2020....you are quite something!

Here we are the second last day of August 2020, the beginning of the old normal's busy wedding season! Right? Well, sort of! 2020 is teaching us that we cannot live more than one day at a time! Plan as we like to survive 2020, we force ourselves to slow down each day to tune into how to navigate the many things that are outside of our control in this new world. We have all become accustomed in recent months to tuning into the latest COVID news so we can prepare to turn ourse

There is "a touch" that can say it all!

If all the words needed to express pride and support between generations could be packaged, I was honoured to witness it in one single gesture at Cody and Jade's recent wedding! I could not help but notice where the hand of Cody's family member rested throughout the group photo session at Dusty Hill Vineyard ... yes, firmly on his shoulder! In 2014 Cody walked Jade's polocrosse horse for the first....and legend has it, "that was the last time!" We celebrated their decision to

Pull Over... There is bush tucker here!

I first met Carmen and her delightful mum Aunty Pam just under 12 years ago! My Monday to Friday job brings me into contact with so many wonderful people, and in their case, we were working together to avoid harming aboriginal cultural heritage during my employer's land disturbance activities. During these occasions it was not unusual for the signal "pull over" to come from Carmen in the back seat, so the sighting of bush tucker could be further investigated! When Carmen and

Kerrod was the best, best man!

Kerrod was the best, best man!

Kerrod had one very important job during the ceremony...and he nailed it! Prior to Kerrod doing his important job, he witnessed Josh shed some tears at the arrival of his beautiful bride, and throughout the many special moments we all shared in as Jess and Josh became Mr and Mrs. The beautifully refreshed Bunya Mountains and the abundance of wildlife that abounds always creates an extra audience. I have to say "it's these moments that recharge my batteries most Saturdays!"

He still opens her car door....and cooks!

The parents didn't need a second invitation to jump in for extra hugs as they overwhelmingly offered their support for Evan and Danica's marriage at #DustyHillVineyard this weekend! School friends who kept in contact afterwards and who supported each other through some tough times, humbly told their guests through their vows and the stories they entrusted me to share, "just why a veterinarian and a dairy farmer were sealing their deep affection and choosing to become partners

Before Tinder there was “Thirsty Thursday”!

“Thirsty Thursday’s“ a thing in Kingaroy where people socialise over a few drinks with friends, and make new ones! In Mitch and Mary-Ann‘s case, it was the start of their very first chapter as a couple. On Saturday they gathered their most important and in their own way wrote their next chapter in such a way that was reflective of their deep respect and affection they have for each other, They chose a special song, rich in meaning to acknowledge those who couldn’t be present

Home is wherever the special people are...

I love sharing the special moments between two people when they gather their nearest and dearest to witness their decision to marry! Moreso today, Oliver and Rebecca's choice of location - Oliver's grandparents property at the top of Peterson Drive in Coolabunia was going to be a special occasion! Meticulously presented, not a blade of grass out of place anywhere, along with views to forever, the tone was set and the atmosphere filled with childhood and forever memories! Gran
