Cyclones, Clouds and COVID were not invited!

Johnathan and Eloise's interstate wedding planning started midway through 2021 with fingers crossed tightly, that the Qld border would be reopened in enough time for them to return to their home state and finish the final touches. Thanks to Eloise's mum Tracey and her team, many of the parts that create a special day were handled to perfection, including a Plan A and Plan B! What could never have been planned was that two other "c's" wanted to join their wedding day at late n

Want more pink hats or blue?

See that silly look on my face? It's the look a celebrant gets when that moment arrives in a ceremony when two special people slip the last ring on! "Thanks Lucy Kinbacher Photography!" The instructions from the couple from the outset were... "it has to be funny!" I will let you in on a secret, "it wasn't that hard to create a fun and funny ceremony for them, because the groom excelled in the art of dry humour!" Perhaps I too share that gift a little, but he was by far, drier

Do you wake a sleeping carpet snake or just work around it? My 2020!

Do you wake a sleeping carpet snake or just work around it? My 2020!

2020 for me has been a year of learning to live with the uncomfortable! My first wedding for 2020 was in the glorious Bunya Mountains! It included a guest that I had to keep one eye on, but decided it would be best to work around and leave the sleeping carpet snake alone! COVID-19 planted itself right in the middle of our lives and plans, and in so many ways created for us 'students-of-life", some life-long lessons to participate in and experiment with; proving once again th

    Destiny or coincidence?

Back before they were old enough to know much more than 1 + 1, Meagan and Kieran stood together in their primary school band photo! At the end of their schooling they followed each other to Brisbane and "yes", ended up living one street apart for quite some time before their first memorable introduction at the Royal Exchange Hotel in Toowong! Kieran and Meagan openly shared their stories about their dedication to helping each other achieve their best and how much they valued

Google has never been to Paradise Creek, and now I know why!

I am a "country boy" by birth, and heart! Steph and Sam's opening line in their very helpful instructions to find their wedding venue was - "don't enter this road number into Google, it won't take you where you need to go!" I really enjoy sharing in a couple's special day when they choose to celebrate on country, their home soil and the place that has made the greatest contribution to who they are as individuals and a couple! I patted myself on the back after experiencing onl

    Behind the scenes on 101020

The day began with a healthy application of 50+ sunscreen for this celebrant's fair Irish skin! Yes, with the slightest expression of vanity, this was the second wedding in 20 years I wore a hat! "Shade was nowhere to be seen!" The days in the lead up to 101020 have been hot, with dry winds and dust! I knew I had to be prepared for all the elements that nature and early morning weddings can present! I surprised a few locals heading to town along the lonely country road I dro

    He cried...

COVID-19 sank Kilah and Jack's original plans to gather their whole tribe together at their grandparents property to celebrate their special day! To get things moving in the direction she wanted, Kilah arrived under the loving escort of Jack's grandads special car and a couple of other beauties. To help manage nerves, Jack's mum jumped in for an early kiss of approval! Dad Ken, took out the honours of Best Man. Thanks to event management extraordinaire Kirsty from @Storybook

    2020....you are quite something!

Here we are the second last day of August 2020, the beginning of the old normal's busy wedding season! Right? Well, sort of! 2020 is teaching us that we cannot live more than one day at a time! Plan as we like to survive 2020, we force ourselves to slow down each day to tune into how to navigate the many things that are outside of our control in this new world. We have all become accustomed in recent months to tuning into the latest COVID news so we can prepare to turn ourse

Pull Over... There is bush tucker here!

I first met Carmen and her delightful mum Aunty Pam just under 12 years ago! My Monday to Friday job brings me into contact with so many wonderful people, and in their case, we were working together to avoid harming aboriginal cultural heritage during my employer's land disturbance activities. During these occasions it was not unusual for the signal "pull over" to come from Carmen in the back seat, so the sighting of bush tucker could be further investigated! When Carmen and

Kerrod was the best, best man!

Kerrod had one very important job during the ceremony...and he nailed it! Prior to Kerrod doing his important job, he witnessed Josh shed some tears at the arrival of his beautiful bride, and throughout the many special moments we all shared in as Jess and Josh became Mr and Mrs. The beautifully refreshed Bunya Mountains and the abundance of wildlife that abounds always creates an extra audience. I have to say "it's these moments that recharge my batteries most Saturdays!"

Home is wherever the special people are...

I love sharing the special moments between two people when they gather their nearest and dearest to witness their decision to marry! Moreso today, Oliver and Rebecca's choice of location - Oliver's grandparents property at the top of Peterson Drive in Coolabunia was going to be a special occasion! Meticulously presented, not a blade of grass out of place anywhere, along with views to forever, the tone was set and the atmosphere filled with childhood and forever memories! Gran
